Rolemaster Difference and Notes

  • Initiative uses an AP system, everyone has 4 AP (haste and slow can modify this). If an action is variable AP, such as 2-4. Then it's -25 per AP less than the max used. So if you melee (2-4) with only 2 AP spent, it is at -50.
  • 0 AP actions, you get one free each round. Subsequent ones cost 1 AP instead.
  • Dodge (4ap) is a full action, it uses the appropriate movement skill (typically running) as an addition to your DB.
  • Partial Dodge is a Concentration Action, and adds half of the movement skill to DB.
  • Shields (p105)

    • To get the passive bonus from a shield is a 0ap action, vs 1 oponent. 1 ap for each additional up to shield max.
    • Passive bonus: shield DB + shield skill ranks, cap is 50. Item quality can exceed the 50 cap.
    • To get shield skill bonus to DB vs. Ranged it is a Concentration action, must be split between attacks.
    • 4 AP for full block, add shield skill to DB.
    • 2 AP for partial block, add half shield skill to DB.
  • Movement: it is 1 ap for three pace steps changes in one direction or another.
  • Dazed: -25 to actions.
  • Stunned: -50, can only attack w/melee but at a +0.
  • Staggered: -25 to actions.
  • Stun immune creatures: stuns turn to staggered and Stunned Unable to Parry knocks them prone.
  • Prone, automatically staggered, 1 ap to get up.
  • Knocked back, get's a maneuver roll (acrobatics or movement skill) at -25.

    • If knocked in to someone, whomever they get knocked in to gets a perception check to get a chance to avoid the impact, they will then need to make a maneuver roll (acrobatics or movement) to get out of the way. Even if successful, they are at -25 due to the distraction.
  • Profession bonus, is 10 skills from 7 the categories listed in the profession.
  • Breakage, if a natural 33 or 77 is rolled on a on a skill that uses an item (melee, picking locks), the item in question must check for breakage.
  • Fatigue checks every 6 melee rounds.
